MMCinemas

Movie theaters or cinema halls refer to a screening venue for motion pictures (films or movies). Mexico, like any other South American countries, has a deep-seated cinematic heritage. There are movie theaters in Mexico galore, showing modern-day commercial and parallel films as well as golden classics from Europe, the United States and Asia. Bulk of the Mexican movie theaters are equipped with multiple screens that provide a widespread viewing experience for the film lovers. In some cases, there can be up to 25 screens at a single cineplex building! Depending on the popularity and inflow of audience, certain companies have classified their movie theaters as well. Whatever may be the category, one thing is assured in any movie theater over there.
You will be provided with truly world-class services and comforts. In these two regards, very few movie theaters in South America can beat Mexico. Cleanliness is another thing to notice once you are comfortably inside one of them. New international releases are traditionally shown on Thursdays. Possible one drawback that is apparent in the Mexico movie theaters is that most of them are inclined to screen the same films. Except a handful of theaters, variety is hard to find. For the lovers of offbeat films or documentaries, the Cinemex chain of movie theaters is perfect. MMCinemas is one of the top three chain of film theaters in Mexico, followed by Cinemex and Cinépolis. Cineplex happens to be the most recognizable string of movie houses in South America. MMCinemas, headquartered in Monterrey, is under the supervision and administrative control of cineplex.

MMCinemas was established by Grupo Multimedios. It is the biggest media house in the northern parts of Mexico. However, MMCinemas was handed over to Morgan Stanley and Southern Cross Group in 2006. The earlier owner was having some difficulties managing the colossal chain of multiplexes and the annual turnover was also decreasing. It resulted in this shifting of ownership.

MMCinemas as a leading company venturing into motion pictures began its journey in 1981. At the time of inception, it was armed with just a single movie theater in Monterrey. But it dis not take very long for MMCinemas to expand to the nook and corner of the country. By 1994, they had grown into a large company, with 14 theaters and 47 screens. The ticket price never went out of reach of the commoners, as it was firmly inspected by the Mexican Government.
