Cinemex

A movie theater refers to a screening venue for motion pictures (movies or films). Mexico is famous for its rich cinematic culture and legacy. There are movie theaters in Mexico aplenty, screening contemporary commercial and parallel films as well as classics from Europe, the United States and Asia. Most of the Mexico cinema theaters are appointed with multiple screens that provide a widespread viewing experience for the film lovers. In the cinema theaters in Mexico, the cleanliness and comfort level for the audience are at par with international merits. New releases are traditionally screened on Thursdays.
Perhaps one drawback that is apparent in the Mexico movie theaters is that most of them tend to showcase the same films at a time. Barring a few theaters, variety is hard to find. For those who love to watch offbeat films or documentaries, Cinemex Casa de Arte is suggested. This theater belongs to the chain of nationally acclaimed cineplex.

Cinemex is owned by a motion pictures company named cineplex, which is based in Mexico and has built an integrated chain of theater houses nationwide. The foundation of cinemex was involved with a college business plan. Miguel Angel Dávila Guzmán, Adolfo Fastlicht and Matthew Heyman conceived that Mexico had been matured enough to experience internationally-famed films. The need to establish world-class movie theaters became the order of the day for these three gentlemen. With the passing of the new Cinematography Law in 1992, the old regulations were annulled and it was a much-needed breakthrough for them. Adolfo Fastlicht and Miguel Angel Dávila Guzmán saw that Mexican market was extremely congenial and receptive as far as accepting a fresher trend of foreign as well as indigenous movies is concerned. The market potential prompted them to introduce a high-end chain of theater houses.

Prior to the setting up of Cinemex, they amassed $21.5 million in equity in 1994. The money was financed by JPMorgan Partners and the CMex investors Bluhm family of Chicago. Till date, this deal is regarded to be the biggest venture for a starting business in the history of Mexico. Today cinemex is armed with 48 cineplexes in Guadalajara, Cuernavaca, Toluca, Puebla and Mexico City.

The first theater house belonging to the cinemex chain was inaugurated in August 2, 1995. Cinemex Altavista was followed by Cinemex Santa Fe in October in the same year. Then came Cinemex Manacar, Cinemex Los Reyes and Cinemex Loreto.
