Traditionally a theatre used to be an auditorium, a single one with rows of seats which were comfortable for seating down to watch a movie. The lobby area constituted of a box office, from where people used to buy tickets, which is predominant also in halls of today. There is also a counter with or without self service to but snacks along with drinks, which are regarded as inseparable parts of a movie. It is said that you enjoy more when you watch a movie with snacks or drinks. Washrooms are also there in these theatres.
ADesign of Movie Theatre, in previous time, it was also kept in mind that stage theatres were often converted to a movie theatre, only by placing screen in the front portion of the hall. A projector, through which a movie is screened is also required for the change.
The seating arrangements in the Design of Movie Theatre, are made in such a way that everyone can view the movie without any hindrance. So, the arrangements are done in a step wise fashion and seats are located in these steps. Normally there is a passage or more than one passage in between for proper movement of the people. This type of seating is often referred as 'Stadium Seating'.
